PDF Pattern Layers

What are PDF pattern layers and how to use them?

Candy Castle Patterns has added a new feature: PDF pattern layers. All our new patterns will include layers, and we will slowly but surely update older patterns to include layers, too. These updates to older patterns will be free to those who already purchased them.

PDF Layers allow you to turn on and off pattern pieces, grouped per size. This way, you can choose to print one or more sizes you want to print, instead of having to print them all by default.

To use this feature, you will need to open and print your pattern using Adobe PDF Reader. This is a free download on the Adobe website.

When you open your pattern and scroll down to the pattern pieces, the buttons on the left may not be showing. Click the control panel indicated by the arrow in the picture to the left to open the panel and uncover the buttons.

You can also click the "List Layers for All Pages" button to view the layers, without having to scroll down to the pattern pieces.

Now, click the Layers button, as shown in the picture to the right.

This will show you all the available layers.

Now, you can turn off all sizes but the one(s) you want to print, by clicking the little eye next to the layer.
